Double vision in both eyes but when an eye is covered or closed vision is fine?

This suggests the muscles controlling where your eyes point are not working in harmony. The potential causes are many. I would contact your doc and get evaluated as soon as possible. This is worrisome.

Double vision with both eyes is most often due to imbalance of basic ocular muscles, and this symptom can be due to several causes. An ophthalmologist could be consulted, but most likely a neurologist would be best to evaluate the range of underlying problems. Until definitive answer is found, you could patch one eye to assist. See a doctor ASAP and proceed toward an answer.
