Miconazole is prescribed for yeast. Metronidazole is for bacterial vaginosis. Yeast and BV can cause vaginal discharge. Vaginal gel medications also lead to discharge as the medication is absorbed and some expelled. Azithromycin is often prescribed for cervicitis or chlamydia.
