Herpes virus can be shedded even without eruptions being present. It is spread by skin to skin contact and if live virus was on the straw the virus can be transmitted. However I don't think It's a very likely occurrence.

A very small risk from straw or glass. If open sores than it is possible but also unlikely. Always be cautious who you drink behind.
