I took famotidine (pepcid) last night and noticed white colored stool this afternoon when i had to use the restroom. why is this? is it safe? should i continue taking the medicine?

I have not heard about this acute adverse effect so I wonder it could be a coincidence. If you need to take it you can continue and closely observe your stool and body. A late side effect of Famotidine is cholestasis which means liver cannot excrete bile through the bile duct into the intestine and if that happens, stool will lose the yellow brown color and eyes and skin become yellow.
