Displaced IUD: The procedure usually can be done as outpatient surgery..That is you should be able to go home after recovering from the anaesthesia..About 2 hours. However this is dependent on exactly where the iud is outside of the uterus, for example if it has encroached on bowel or bladder this could make the surgery and recovery much more complicated.

Depends: The length of the surgery depends on where the iud is found and if it is attached to other organs. Ask your md about the length of surgery. The recovery may be anywhere from a few day to a week or two depending on what type of surgery is needed.
