With covid is it common to lose your sense of smell but not sense of taste?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Very common to have reports of loss of sense of smell and taste. Taste functions are basic such as sweet, sour, salty, bitter, unami, but the subtleties of flavor are mediated by olfactory functions, and this causes the major disruptions. Since viral invasion is preferentially via nasal pathways, into brain through cribriform plate, the olfactory nerve would be more commonly affected.
