Hysterosalpingogram: Your ability to conceive on a monthly basis is only 20%. That being said, if you are having trouble conceiving after 6 months of trial it is best to be evaluated to determine why. A hysterosalpingogram xray can detect if your tubes are open or not. Your doctor can do tests to determine if you are ovulating . And a semen analysis can determine sperm assessment. These are the primary etiologies.

Multiple tests: You can get a hsg or hysterosalpingogram to check your fallopian tubes for patency. You might have to also see if you ovulate with over the counter ovulation predictor kits. Your gynecologist can also see if you ovulate with a Progesterone level 7 days after ovulation by your opkit.
