Why is same swab used for the group strep b test? inserted swab into vagina and then swabbed around back area. why both?isn't vaginal enough?

No: Group b strep may be present in the vagina, rectum or bladder. Both swabs are needed because it is thought that the primary source is the rectum and you don't want to miss a possible infection. There are no symptoms so it's important to screen properly in order to protect your baby.
