I recently tore my calf muscle (medial gastrocnemius tear) and now my toes are numb. is this a normally symptom of a calf tear?

Yes it is possible to injure a nerve with this type of injury. However the question should be, what are you doing to rehabilitate the injury. Ice message followed by stretching in AM. Stretching and ice in PM. Strengthening to follow. If a nerve is involved this will help heal. The other consideration would be to see a physical therapist. This needs to be rehabilitated properly

It is possible that you injured sensory nerves when you tore the calf muscle. If the numbness persists see your Doctor.
