Mild cognitive impairment is a clinical diagnosis which describes early intellectual changes. The amnestic form (memory) evolves to true Alzheimer's disease in 90% at 10 yrs. PET scan may show findings early on which predict outcomes, but this is prohibitively expensive, but spinal fluid may also suggest eventual outcomes. Testing should include looking for reversible entities.
