Understanding what my tsh reflex level of 5.25 h means?

Usually if the TSH is abnormal the lab automatically performs a free T4 level as a reflex response so that the clinician gets the result sooner& can validate whether the thyroid is overactive or underactive immediately. A TSH between 0.4 to 5.0 is normal. Your reading of 5.25 is borderline high& could indicate a mildly underactive thyroid in which case your free T4 will be abnormally low(under0.7)

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, your level is indicative of thyroid underactivity. Wish you good health!

What was your free T4 or T4 level as that is indicative if you have sufficient thyroid hormone. TSH can vary so would repeat it in a month. Hi TSH normal T4 is subclinical hypothyroidism treatment is a matter of discussion in medicine. Some treat if there are symptoms , some observe F/U/w/ endocrinology https://www.healthline.com/health/subclinical-hypothyroidism#complications
