I have this sudden pain on my sternum that gets worse when i take deep breaths but am not sure what the cause could be.

Get A Chest Xray: Probably is an inflammation at the sternum bone due to a :trauma". Try some aleve (naproxen) twice a day, get a cxr to make sure there is no fracture or underlying cause. Do not wait long.
