Irregular menses is a common finding in some women. Skipping a month or more is also common. Home pregnancy tests done on a first morning specimen are usually accurate. They can be falsely negative early in pregnancy but rarely falsely positive. OBGYNS often use the BCP to create a predictable cycle pattern when irregularity is too disruptive.

Menstrual irregularities are not uncommon and anovulatory cycle is a common cause. If you miss more than two periods it would be time to see your doctor. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time. You may consider implanted contraceptive or an IUD. Please see your Gynecologist Doctor for a thorough examination and recommendations. If you do not have confidence in your Doctor please see another for a second opinion.
