External genital yeast infection always means the infection is inside the vagina as well. There are no pain nerves inside the vagina: absence of internal pain or irritation does not mean infection is absent. Treatment needs to be in the vagina as well as external. Or use fluconazole (DiflucanĀ®) by mouth: a single dose is just as effective as several days of vaginal treatment.
