6 to 8 hours: Typically the dose for most cough medications may be repeated in 6 to 8 hours. The longer acting formulas are labeled as such and usually last 12 hours. Rinse nasal passages with saline to reduce post nasal drip. Monitor temperature and report fever to your physician.
