Eight weeks is generally a reasonable healing period for surgery before starting an exercise routine. If the doc is happy with your healing and approves, you can assume it is okay to start. It would be good to begin at a lower level of intensity to start and gradually work up to your prior pattern over a few weeks.

It is good that you are contemplating exercise. As doctor F advised, start slowly and gradually increase the time and intensity of exercise. Talk to your doctor about getting vaccination for pneumococcal pneumonia. People without a spleen are more susceptible to pneumococcal infection. Wish you good health!
