A member asked:

Ive been on nexplanon for over 1.5 years and ive been using protection with my significant other but now im experiencing clear jelly like discharge after my ovulation dates along with other symptoms, could i be pregnant?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Nexplanon contains a synthetic form of progesterone, and acts as a contraceptive by affecting implantation, so even if one is ovulating on Nexplanon, and fertilization occurs, the fertilized egg will not "attach' ("implant") and pregnancy will not occur. Many on Nexplanon implants do not have ovulatory cycles, but ovulation will produce a "clear, jelly like discharge", which is normal.
