Only a little: Microdermabrasion is a noninvasive procedure that you can get at a salon. It is really more like a deep facial. Dermabrasion is a surgical technique that can more effectively treat your raised scar. Laser resurfacing with a co2 laser or erbium laser can also work well.

Not really!: Microdermabrasion utilizes air-driven crystals delivered via handpiece; these crystals remove the top rough, scaly layers of the skin, giving smoother-feeling surface texture. No real healing since treatments do not penetrate into living tissue. Scar remodeling will require removal of living tissue no deeper than the mid dermis (or more scarring); this requires real dermabrasion, laser, or peel.
