Yes & No: There are two types of acne scars. Craters and ice-pick. The ice-pick scar has sharp borders whereas the crater has smoother borders. Ice-pick variety of scars have to be excised and can be done quite easily with small punch biopsies. The crater variety can be helped with multiple sessions of microdermabrasion.

No: Microdermabrasion is not effective for acne scars. Consider combination therapy for acne scars including subcision, cross tca, medical roll cit, dermabrasion, laser and other treatments, including prp. Microdermabrasion can improve skin texture and acne in some cases but its effects are limited.

No: Unfortunatly, microdermabrasion will not stop, improve or prevent acne. It is only a mild form of exfoliation.

Acne scars: One important factor is prevent new scars-get your acne under control. Find a dermatologist to tackle that with you. Most treatment to improve the appearance of acne scars use special technology to remodel the skin. The device I use to treat acne scars is called ematrix--see for info: http://www.Smacboca.Com/e-matrix-sublative-rejuvenation.Html other options include laser, microderm, or subscision.

Depends: No home remedies will get rid of scars. Silicone sheets and liquid silicone can have modest improvements, but all the options available for significant improvement of acne scars have to be performed by a doctor (laser, chemical peels, excision, etc...).

Not very: It may help small scars. I'm sorry you ended up with these rather than being treated effectively in the first place. If you want them made permanently less visible, get with a dermatologist or plastic surgeon; even deep dermabrasion is giving way to lasers, microsurgery, and fillers that will make the scars less visible. Several hollywood leading men have kept theirs for effect; it's your choice.
