A member asked:

My mom gets constant bloating, stomach pain (upper left side & center), occasional nausea, and lots of gas since 2 months. doctor thinks it's acid related. does her situation sound mode concerning than that? what are the possible & likely causes?

My first thoughts would be lactose or gluten intolerance rather than hyperacidity Have her first omit dairy foods and if not improved, omit gluten which is predominantly a nonwheat diet. Taking simethicone 1/2 hour after meals prevents gas buildup as well. Drinking hot water tends to break down gas so it can pass through the intestinal tract &out the rectum. Applying heat to the abdomen also helps
