Yes, you should stop taking pills when you are supposed to have your period start, BUT, you should NOT start taking the pill AFTER you are 5 days into your cycle, that’s a bit too late

Yasmin oral contraceptives come in a 28 day pack. This means you take one pill per day. You do not stop taking the pills when you have a period. This menstrual cycle may be off schedule since you started taking birth control pills only 5 days before your period. Your next expected period should be when you near then end of the current pack of pills.
