Can a non functional pituitary adenoma become functional later on?

Unlikely. However, a non-functional adenoma can destroy the function of other pituitary cells by compressing the organ in its bony enclosure.

The tissue pathology characteristics do not mutate, but enlargement can occur, so have the adenoma followed by serial MRI studies over time.
