If you do not experience shortness of breath you are probably safe. Take pain pill as needed and icing the area will help. The treatment is very limited with rib fracture.

Return to whomever originally diagnosed your displaced rib fracture so that they can either re-examine you or refer back to your original X-rays for comparison. While difficult to treat, rib fractures can be dangerous and can result in long term complications (intercostal neuralgia, for one). If short of breath, seek emergency care.
