There are many types of HPV, some of which can cause cancer, such as types 16 and 18, which are linked to (female) cervical cancer . Most of all types of HPV will be "cured" by one's immune system over 1-2 years. Lesions like penile warts can be treated by medication or cryotherapy. When lesions appear, consult with your physician or a urologist for current treatment.

Those genotypes are classified as high risk HPVs which can cause HPV related cancers such as penile/anal cancer, head & neck cancer. There is no cure for HPV. Virus will be latent in your body even without a visible lesion. With lesion, you are at high risk for transmitting the virus to your sex partner and even without the lesion. Sex abstain when having lesion and use condom when without lesion.
