Presumably, you have confirmed migraine headaches. Amitriptyline will not stop an ongoing headache, but might prevent at adequate dosing. 20 mg is likely to be too low, but if it works, you will avoid the nasty adverse effects. Give a try, but there are far better interventions if this fails.
