Later: As you likely had measles or had the vaccine your body will have some protection for the first months of life. Maternal antibody is thought to prevent the measles vaccine from providing any long them benefit if given before a year, but it may provide temporary benefit if given after 6m, if there is measles in the area. We generally give it at 1y & 4y.Measles can be deadly but is not in most cases.
