I do not understand what you mean by putting your eye under cold running water. Do you suspect that water infested with Acanthamoeba? If not, nothing to worry. It is very rare to get this type of infection, the incidence is 2 cases per million and the majority of patients (85%) are contact lenses wearers. The incubation period is thought to range from several days to several weeks.
