A member asked:

I accidentally melted a plastic spatula on a burner for about a minute or two, which was made of nylon. is that dangerous to have inhaled the fumes? what does nylon break down into when melted/burned like that? should i be worried?

It is best to avoid the fumes from plastic, styrofoam and other materials. A one time brief exposure if you are otherwise well is unlikely to cause difficulty.
