Complex answer. Different types of malnutrition, different types of immunity. The most typical malnutrition is “protein/calorie” - the weak, “skin & bones” person who is wasting away. This can affect T cells that decrease in number and function. Also affects B cells that produce antibodies. No single cutoff number. The more advanced the malnutrition the worse the immune function
