There is no benefit to taking large doses of biotin. Any test that uses biotinylated reagents could give a false positive or false negative result. It depends on the method not the analyte being tested.

FDA is now warning that doses of biotin, over 30mcg/day can cause errors in tests for Thyroid hormone, Vit D levels and tests for troponin, used to detect heart attack , besides affecting immunoassay tests for Hepatitis B and A antibody,as well as some tests for Hiv antigen. it is advisable to stop the biotin 12hrs before the test or inform the doctor about the biotin supplements being taken
