Automatic devices are most likely to read the diastolic pressure wrong. I tell my patients to ignore the diastolic as long as systolic is 120 or less. The systolic a key predictor of how long you will live and what % of your life you will suffer the consequences of the complications of HBP: stroke, MI, kidney failure. Take your device into your office and have it validated as accurate.

Young people with hypertension have more diastolic involvement than older patients as their arterioles are much more elastic. I favor lifestyle changes like salt, alcohol, caffeine avoidance, ideal weight, regular exercise, stress reduction and,if diastolic BP exceeds 85, resumption of labetalol which is a good beta dilator that doesn't lower heart rate or produce fatigue which is important for you.
