A member asked:

During a recent sonogram the tech had a very difficult time finding my left ovary. is that normal? and i have a cyst on my right ovary.is that serious

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not to worry: Each patient has different anatomy and finding the ovary can be challenging. If you have a simple cyst, or follicle, on the ovary these are benign. At your age these cysts are only evaluated with a second ultrasound if they are over 5 cm. The followup ultrasound is advised one year later but can occur after a few months if patients are concerned.
