A member asked:

If you had no side effects from the covid vaccine(pfizer), does this indicate that you would be asymptomatic if you were to catch it? i would assume not b/c of flu vaccine and catching flu? also, can the reg flu be asymptomatic too?

The side effects of the vaccination are not related to the degree of protection offered by the vaccination. The vaccination is quite effective and please discuss a flu vaccination for the next flu season with your PCP.

You are likely to be asymptomatic or to experience milder disease because of the protective antibody, nothing to do with the degree of vaccine reaction. In a major contrast to other vaccines, live attenuated, killed, or toxoid, Covid-19 mRNA vaccine does not contain any part of virus. There are asymptomatic or milder cases of flu (influenza) in immunized individuals.
