No. What you described is not normal and you should contact the doctor who performed the surgery. For healthy diet: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/., exercise 30 minutes/day, drink enough water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs. It sounds like your cast or splint is too tight and putting pressure on the dorsal radial sensory nerve resulting in the tingling, and limiting lymphatic drainage resulting in the swelling. Recommend you contact your hand surgeon to adjust your splint/cast.
