Diarrhea is common in young children and toddlers. Do not give him any medication. Make sure he is drinking lots of fluids, especially electrolyte solutions, and keep his diet simple : Bread/rice, Apples, Bananas. Watch for blood in the stool, and report to a Dr immediately. Other than that, the virus will be out of his system in 3-5 days.

Medicine for diarrhea is not recommended for children. Consider instead adjusting his diet - Bananas, Rice, Applesauce and Toast or similar bland diet is suggested. Adding some probiotic eg. yogurt or pediatric probiotic is not proven but would be my preference before medication. If symptoms persist, decrease in urine output, is less active or too sleepy, please seek medical attention
