I have tonsilitus. i started antibiotics this morning but my tonsils has swollen to the size of golf balls. i can barely talk or swallow. should i try to wait for the antibiotics to work, or should i go to the urgent care soon?

Confusing post. You should never go on antibiotics unless the sore throat is confirmed as Strep A by rapid test (10 min). Some of the worst throat appearance is caused by viruses, which self heal & never respond to antibiotics. If you have difficulty keeping hydrated see your doc.

If you difficulty in swallowing saliva or breathing, go to the emergency department of a nearby hospital. Do not try to treat it by yourself. Wish you good health!
