For some women, HPV just clears, but for others it goes dormant. I would recommend that you continue to have regular Pap smear tests, alone every 3 years, or with an HPV test every 5 years or as recommended by your doctor. If there are any cell changes, you will catch them early and be able to have those cells removed by colposcopy. Don’t worry, just don’t miss your Pap smears.

More than 80% of the people clear the virus. Since there is no good test to settle if the virus has cleared or dormant, you should get regular PAP smears. Get HPV vaccine to prevent infection with strains that you have not been exposed to. Wish you good health!
