I assume that your UTI diagnosis was confirmed and that other diagnoses have been ruled out.If you have not had a urine culture & sensitivity done to identify the offending organism and its sensitivity against cefuroxime, that would be a logical next step. In any case your doctor would need to order the urine C&S.Until you can reach your doctor, drinking lots of fluids is generally helpful in UTI.

Obtain a culture and sensitivity from a new urine specimen, and see another physician or go to an ER , as some antibiotics are not able to act on organisms which are not sensitive to the specific antibiotic you have used.

When UTI’s are not responding to empirical treatment, urine studies at a minimum are needed in order to confirm diagnosis, find causative agent/bacteria that once discovered can be checked for antibiotic resistance/sensitivity and treatment revised based on it. Many times the differential diagnosis has to be expanded to other conditions that may cause UTI like symptoms.
