Itching in perineum: Three common lichens can cause itching in area of perineum and genitals: lichen simplex chronicus, a result of chronic rubbing or scratching, lichen sclerosus (lsa) and lichen planus (lp), inflammatory skin conditions that can cause redness, violaceous discoloration and scarring, making pap smears and sex difficult and painful. Lsa can also look like white patches. These need close followup.
