A member asked:

My alkaline phosphate level is 186 and climbing. should i be concerned? i have alpha1 and am liver affected?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, if you are homozygous for alpha 1 anti-trypsin deficiency, you should consult a liver specialist, even though your alkaline phosphatase per is not worrisome. Wish you good health!
