Safe: It is not unsafe to have sex during the menstrual period. Some studies show an increased risk for std's when having sex during the time of the period, but for this to be an issue your partner must have an std for you to be exposed - in a monogamous relationship it is not a concern. One benefit is that you cannot conceive if having sex during your period.
