A member asked:

My wife is on antibiotics, today she lost her taste and then she tested positive for covid, should she stop the antibiotics and go back to the doctor?

Do not stop the antibiotics yet, as these were given for a reason. Contact your physician and make a joint decision, now that she has a COVID-19 confirmation. If antibiotics are used for too brief a time, this could lead to drug resistant organisms.

I agree with Dr. Machanic. We don't know the doctor's rationale for prescribing antibiotics. Would contact the doctor who can then make further recommendations based on whole picture to include positive COVID 19 test,
