A 25-year-old female asked:
Would it be okay to take robitussin (cough syrup) before/after a covid vaccine shot? i know we're advised against painkillers before getting the shot/s, but was wondering if that applies to robitussin. it's a cough that comes & goes (not covid, tho?

It is perfectly fine to take the Robitussin cough syrup with the COVID-19 vaccine. It will not diminish the antibody response to the vaccine. It is good that you are getting vaccinated since that will help prevent COVID-19 illness. Best of luck to you!

I agree with Dr. Ferranti. Use of a cough syrup should not dampen development of immune response.
