Premature beats: Ectopy usually refers to premature heart beats from the atria or ventricles, called pacs or pvcs. They can be exacerbated by excessive caffeine, decongestants, nicotine, hypertension, hyperthyroidism, and electrical disorders of the heart.

Not sure: But it probably means irregular hearbeats caused by electrical impulses of your heart muscles that originate in a location other than your normal points of origin. These can originate from one location or multiple locations. Treatment would depend on where in your heart these ectopic conductions originate.
