The bands may be impinging on your gingiva. It is difficult to clean the edges where food and bacteria get caught, so that might be the issue. The cement holding the bands in place may have washed out, resulting is a space between the band and the tooth which would trap food and bacteria that you cannot clean out. Either way, see your orthodontist for an evaluation.

Yes ,the Ortho Bands can cause gum inflammation at gingival margin and many patients get it which disappears in the first or second week after the Bands are placed but if the Bands are imp-inching deep in gum then the Bands need to be adjusted and you should see your Dentist .

Braces require exquisite oral hygiene. If not, the surrounding gum tissues become inflamed and sore. If gum tissues swell, they can act as a trap for food debris. See your Orthodontist for debridement and more individually directed oral hygiene instructions. Brush 2x/day for 2 FULL minutes by the clock, soft toothbrush. Floss or preferably WaterPik daily.
