Cholesterol is a fatty/waxy substance that is found in your blood stream. It is necessary for building cells. At high levels, it can damage your blood vessels by causing plaques. It can be high due to too much fat and cholesterol in your diet, or because of a genetic predisposition. Having High Cholesterol does not mean you have high blood pressure.
