Head trauma such as you experienced can have associated secondary inflammatory reactions that can affect the brain significantly. I recommend that you have an evaluation by a neurologist which would include cognitive testing as well as possible referral for psychiatric help if deemed advisable after your assessment.

Yes, head trauma can result in changes in both cognition and emotions. Neuropsychological testing can sort out and parcel out areas of compromise. Cognitive rehab through a speech therapist may help immensely.
