Exercise: It may be from craning her neck. Regular exercise should strengthen her muscles and make them more flexible as well as improve her general health. Any exercise, walking, jogging, jumping rope, biking will do as long as it induces mild perspiration. Wish you and your daughter good health!

Hard to assess: The discomfort only in that setting & without any corresponding findings on her doctors exam is hard to assess. If the issue interferes with her activities get a second opinion form a pediatrician or pediatric neurologist.
