A member asked:

I am 59 and had a total abdominal hysterectomy+bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy+bilateral lymph node dissection+omentectomy. my oncologist said that the cancer did not spread from the womb. is it necessary for me to have radiation?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cancer spread ?'s: The described surgery (TAH, BS&O, bilateral lymph node dissection, omentectomy) will provide tissue which is examined by a pathologist, and will indicate whether remote evidence of cancer is present, especially in the lymph nodes and omentum. If the pathology reports are negative, is it not necessary to also undergo radiation, but future surveillance is also necessary.
