Beta-agonist and yes: It is a beta-2 agonist that causes relaxation of the uterine smooth muscle and decreases the force and frequency of uterine contractions. At higher doses, it affects the heart, blood pressure, etc. I don't see it used often as a first-line drug, but yes, it is therapeutically useful.
